Welcome to the World Cup Project! PSG Talk contributor Marc Damon hatched this idea a few months ago and has been busy lining up interviews and recording podcast episodes in anticipation of this summer’s FIFA World Cup.
On the inaugural episode, Damon welcomes Guillaume Delaporte to discuss the France national team, a squad that will likely feature several current and former Paris Saint-Germain players. Guillaume, who currently lives in the United States but grew up in France, has followed Les Bleus nearly his entire life and has watched the team transform to reflect the demographic changes within the country and emerge as one of the favorites to win the World Cup this summer in Russia.
Damon and Guillaume cover a lot of topics in the hour-long podcast. Everything from Zinedine Zidane headers (and headbutts), the championship game in 1998, and what the France national team means to the country as a whole. Of course, we’ll touch on the revolt in 2010 when several players walked out on Raymond Domenech, the infamous France vs. Algeria match in 2001, and the disappointing loss to Portugal in the UEFA Euro 2016.
