PSG Small Talk Podcast: Saint-Etienne Debrief + World Cup Project

Paris Saint-Germain moved 17 points clear at the top of Ligue 1 after a 1-1 draw against AS Saint-Etienne at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard and inched closer to clinching the Ligue 1 title.

The draw is flattering for a PSG side that deserved to lose. Saint-Etienne were faster to the ball and sharper on the night especially after Rémy Cabella’s opening goal in the 17th minute. If not for a Mathieu Debuchy own goal in stoppage time after the 90 minutes, PSG would have suffered an embarrassing loss.

On the latest episode of PSG Small Talk, Marc Damon recaps the match and pinpoints what went wrong against Les Verts. In particular, he calls out Adrien Rabiot who put in yet another abysmal performance. It’s becoming clear the either the Frenchman has lost interest in the current campaign, is injured, or is counting down the days until he’s with a club in the Premier League. Whichever it is, it’s about time for lame duck manager Unai Emery to give players like Christopher Nkunku more playing time in order to develop.

Damon wraps up this brief episode with a preview of what listeners can expect with the FIFA World Cup on the horizon. The World Cup Project is a unique series of podcast episodes that shine a light on why this tournament is the most popular sporting event around the world.
