PSG Talking Podcast Episode 24: End-of-Season Review

A lot has happened since the last episode of PSG Talking. Paris Saint-Germain failed to win the league for the first time since 2012 but did manage to win a record 11th Coupe de France title (did anyone actually watch that?) It’s been a roller coaster of a season and here to break down everything that happened on and off the pitch is Guillaume (@OftheDoor1), Matt (@PSGTourist), David (@Meunierist), and Louis (@Positionista).

Sit back and enjoy over 90 minutes of the crew discussing PSG’s 2016-17 campaign. Does another domestic sweep mean anything? Was the season a success or failure? Unai Emery is almost certain to return as manager, is that good news? What will a new director of football mean to the club? Lastly, we’ll examine transfer rumors and talk about possible signings and potential departures.

  1. Very thorough poscast. But concerning transfers for next season, I think more than more firepower up front or a worldclass midfielder, I think we need a worldclass goalkeeper. This is something all top European teams have and has been lacking since the QSI took over. Two seasons ago, I thought Lloris ought to have been bought but they went for trapp instead (typical psg). Imo Trapp and Aerola are the kind of keepers you’ll want to have as backup shot stoppers instead of in the starting IX. I’m hearing some Casillas rumours and really hope it’s not true because Casillas is well beyond his peak. If we won’t break the bank for keepers like Oblak, we can go for cheaper choices like Lloris or wonderkids like Donnarumma. Also I feel young talents like guedes, lo celso, rabiot and nkunku should try and be utilised before thinking of signing more players in those positions. We all won’t want PSG to become the next chelsea or man city which keep selling decent young players which go on to thrive in other clubs .
