Match in Photos: Ben Arfa Brace Leads PSG Past Avranches

Paris Saint-Germain are through to the semi-finals of the Coupe de France after a comfortable 4-0 win over third division side US Avranches on Wednesday.

Hatem Ben Arfa received a rare start and made the most of his opportunity by scoring the game’s first two goals. By far his best performance in a PSG shirt, Ben Arfa has certainly made the case for more playing time down the stretch but it remains to be seen if Unai Emery will oblige. After all, this was a borderline amateur side the former OGC Nice man dominated.

Lucas Moura and Javier Pastore chipped in with a goal each and it was mission-accomplished for the defending Coupe de France champions. PSG overpowered Avranches as you might expect and finished the match with 67 percent possession and seven shots on goal. Despite the impressive stats, it wasn’t as brilliant of a performance as you might expect. They played down to their competition slightly but their quality was enough to see them through.

The win sets up a fourth meeting with AS Monaco this season to decide who will ultimately play for the Coupe de France title. Before we look too far ahead at that match and even this Sunday’s Ligue 1 clash with EA Guingamp, let’s take a look back at some of the best photos from Wednesday’s victory.
