Match Preview: PSG Must Not Overlook Bordeaux

The Ligue 1 title race is heating up and Paris Saint-Germain will need to take home all three points as they head away to Girondins de Bordeaux on Friday.

All eyes will be on Unai Emery and his squad in what is their last tune-up before their UEFA Champions League match with Barcelona on Tuesday. Not only will the reigning French champions want to win to keep pressure on league leaders AS Monaco domestically, supporters will want to see a quality performance from the entire team to carry as much momentum as possible into next week.

Bordeaux is in decent form and will be coming into the game having won three of their last four games. However, with Paris having already recorded a 4-1 win over the 7th place side in the Coupe de la Ligue recently, Emery won’t be expecting much of a fight. The team must not get complacent though if their great escape against Lille OSC midweek is anything to go by.

Back from injury for Paris Saint-Germain is Marco Verratti, Kevin Trapp, and Thomas Meunier. All three have been in great form this season and to have them in the squad will be a huge boost for Emery. Missing from the team will be Jean-Kevin Augustin, Giovani Lo Celso, Grzegorz Krychowiak, and Javier Pastore for various reasons.

PSG will welcome back the Marco Verratti, Kevin Trapp and Thomas Meunier from injury to offer a big boost for the Unai Emery. Missing from the squad for the game will be Jean-Kevin Augustin, Giovani Lo Celso, Grzegorz Krychowiak and Javier Pastore through the different reasons.

Starting XI Prediction

(4-3-3) Trapp; Meunier, Marquinhos, Silva, Kurzawa; Verratti, Rabiot, Nkunku; Lucas, Ben Arfa, Di Maria.

Emery will want to field a strong lineup capable of getting the job done at Bordeaux while handing rest to certain key players and building match-fitness in others. It’s a tricky task for the manager. He needs to have one eye on this match and another on Barcelona.
