Paris Saint-Germain owners Qatar Sports Investment are ready to tap into the South American football club. According to a report from Globo, QSI is considering becoming a shareholder in Santos FC.
The historic Brazilian club in which Pelé made history and Neymar Jr., the capital club’s current star player, made his first team debut.
For now, there is nothing concrete, but the rapprochement between the Brazilian club and QSI was done through Neymar’s father, precisely. He acted as an intermediary between both parties.
And it is that QSI has been seeking to increase its influence in current football for some time through minority investments in clubs worldwide. Last October, the invested Braga acquired 21 percent of the Portuguese side. Santos seems to be the next step.
The South American football scene is one of many investments that QSI could be looking to make as Malaga has been a club linked to PSG’s owners, as they could also look to begin making their mark in Spanish football.
