Report: Juventus Reopen Interest in Former PSG Forward Cavani

Juventus’ search for striker depth has taken a turn back to a player who it had already shown an interest in earlier this summer. The club has reopened its interest in signing former Paris Saint-Germain forward and current free agent Edinson Cavani, according to a report from Sky Sport‘s Gianluca Di Marzio.

Juventus had been showing interest in signing either AS Roma striker Edin Dzeko or FC Barcelona forward Luis Suarez until transfer talks regarding both players became complicated in recent days. Per the report, Roma is not interested in parting ways with Dzeko due to its inability to find an adequate replacement for the talent. On the other hand, Suarez still has not been released by Barca, and he is currently dealing with passport issues regarding his status in Italy. The difficult transfer situation regarding both players is why Juventus has now shifted its focus to Cavani.

The reigning Serie A champions are in need of a striker who could replace the outgoing Gonzalo Higuain. The Argentine is set for a move to Major League Soccer to join the league’s newest club in Inter Miami.

Juventus’ interest in Cavani could become complicated yet again. According to an August report from Sky Sport’s Gianluca Di Marzio, Cavani is not interested in such a move to Juventus because of his previous ties to Napoli. But since Cavani is still currently a free agent three months after leaving PSG, his desperation to find a new club could reach a breaking point, and he could very well sign with Juventus.

For the moment, Cavani sure will remain open to any offers that come his way, as he is certainly looking to sign with a team soon.
