‘He Will Start Scoring Again’ – Former PSG Striker Is Confident That Mauro Icardi Can Find His Goal Scoring Form

In Paris Saint-Germain’s two domestic cup matches against AS Saint-Étienne and Olympique Lyonnais, striker Mauro Icardi didn’t get on the goal sheet.

Despite scoring in friendlies against inferior competition, the 27-year-old didn’t find the back of the net when the matches counted. As a result, the lack of production in the goal department causes some supporters of the capital club to worry.

With Edinson Cavani gone, it leaves Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting as the backup. Although the 31-year-old can play some minutes, Les Parisiens won’t go far in the UEFA Champions League with the Cameroon international as their striker.

If the Ligue 1 champions hope to get by Atalanta BC in the quarterfinals, they’ll need Icardi to find his goal-scoring form considering the potential absence of Kylian Mbappé and suspension of Ángel Di María.

There might be some worrying surrounding Icardi by the fanbase, but former PSG striker, Mickaël Madar, isn’t one of them. The 52-year-old spoke with Le Parisien over the Argentina international, and Madar isn’t worried, adding that the current capital club striker will start scoring.

“Over the last two games, I am left on my hunger but not only in relation to him. All the players are running out of juice, and Icardi is dependent on what’s going on around him,” Madar said. “Physically he’s fair, and since he’s got no balls, he’s a bit naked. Apart from Neymar, no player makes a difference.”

“The problem is that Mbappé plays a lot for Neymar, and Neymar for Mbappé,” Madar said. “And for an attacker, when you don’t score, morally, it quickly becomes complicated. But I don’t worry about a player like him. He will start scoring again.”
