Bayern Munich Chairman ‘Optimistic’ in Signing PSG Transfer Target to a Contract Extension

In recent months, FC Bayern Munich has sought to reach contract extension agreements with several players whose contracts will be up next year. The club has now turned its attention to center-back David Alaba. His contract will be up next year, but the club’s current chairman hopes to extend his deal.

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge spoke to Kicker (via Le10Sport) on his ambition to soon reach a contract extension deal with the defender.

“I am cautiously optimistic about the possibility of reaching an agreement,” Rummenigge said.

For a player like Alaba, he could possibly end up seeing multiple teams inquire over a possible deal if he becomes available. Paris Saint-Germain may be one of those teams eyeing a deal. According to Sport Bild (via France Football), PSG manager Thomas Tuchel is reportedly hoping that the board will accelerate talks on a possible deal for Alaba. Tuchel is well aware of Alaba’s ability and play style after facing him numerous times while managing Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.

For the moment, no other sides have been reported to show notable interest in a possible deal for Alaba.
