Ander Herrera on Winning Two Trophies in One Week and the Status of Kylian Mbappé

Ander Herrera took to the podium after Paris Saint-Germain claimed the Coupe de la Ligue trophy in a penalty shootout. The 30-year-old’s comments were relayed by Goal, where the midfielder discussed where he discussed winning two trophies in one week.

The capital club had an opportunity against Olympique Lyonnais to win their fourth domestic trophy and their second in one week. When talking about this, Herrera comments on how happy the squad is about reaching this accomplishment.

Furthermore, the Spain international adds that with these two domestic cup finals behind them, they can now focus on their UEFA Champions League quarterfinals opponent, Atalanta BC.

“It’s a fantastic week for us. We won two titles, and we are very, very happy,” Herrera said. “A lot of players have played and participated in this success. I can say that we are ready for the League of champions now.”

With Herrera talking about the Champions League, the media asked him about the possibility of Kylian Mbappé suiting up alongside them. Herrera discusses how anxious and hopeful the 21-year-old is to play against Atalanta. However, he does state that the squad is also preparing to play without him if he’s ruled out.

“We are optimistic with Kylian (Mbappé). We have seen that he can walk quietly. He is very professional. He is young. He really wants to play, and we can be very quiet. He works every day, morning, and afternoon. But if it is not possible for him to play, we also have other solutions. Kylian is very important, and I’m sure he will try to play.”
