Report: Roma the Favorites to Land Cavani

A couple of days ago, AS Roma became the latest club to enter the race for Edinson Cavani. Despite just entering the Cavani sweepstakes, it looks as though discussions have advanced between the Italian club and El Matador.

Furthermore, it doesn’t seem as though Roma will have any competition for Cavani from Atlético Madrid, according to Diario AS. Los Colchoneros were close to landing the former Paris Saint-Germain striker in January, however, it didn’t come to fruition.

The 33-year-old’s financial demands were too much for Atlético to pay. Meanwhile, Roma is ready to offer Cavani a three-year-contract and make him the squad’s highest-paid player. With this lucrative offer, I Giallorossi are the odds on favorite to land PSG’s all-time leading goal scorer.

Cavani previously played in Serie A with Napoli before joining PSG in 2013 where he became the all-time leading scorer. If he does make the move to Roma, he would link up with former PSG teammate Javier Pastore.
