Family Member Joins Neymar in France; Signs With FC Lyon

Neymar Jr. will have a family member playing in France next season as his cousin recently signed for FC Lyon.

According to ESPN, Rhaudeman Santiago, nicknamed “Rhau,” joined the French side that currently competes in Régional 1, which is the sixth division of French football.

As explained by Globo, Rhau’s mother is the aunt of Neymar’s father. The 26-year-old striker came up through the Santos youth academy and will now try to impress in France with his much more famous cousin just a few hours up the road in Paris.

If you haven’t figured it out yet, FC Lyon is not the same as Olympique Lyonnais in Ligue 1. FC Lyon is an amateur club that is actually the third-oldest club in France (1893) according to ESPN.

I doubt that Neymar will make a decision regarding his future because his cousin plays for FC Lyon, but it certainly doesn’t hurt to have family nearby. As it stands right now, Neymar is under contract until 2022 and has yet to sign an extension with Paris Saint-Germain.
