The PSG stars set to play a key role in this summer’s EURO 2024

Many of this season’s Ligue 1 title-winners will have an even bigger prize at stake this summer. While some of Luis Enrique’s side will be able to put their feet up and rest over the close season of the domestic campaign, several of the PSG squad will be doing battle in Germany at the EURO 2024.

Although the final EURO 2024 squads won’t be announced for another month or so, we can take a calculated guess as to the PSG stars most likely to be on a plane to Germany come the end of PSG’s domestic and Champions League campaigns.

Kylian Mbappé (France)

Mbappé will be making plenty of headlines this summer as he decides his next destination following the expiry of his PSG contract. The 25-year-old will also be hoping to make more headlines with the French national team. Mbappé has been in great form so far this season, scoring 26 goals in 27 appearances. His 2023 was very prolific for France too, averaging more than a goal a game.

He’ll no doubt be the main attacking threat for France, who are a major threat this summer. In fact, France are one of the hotly-tipped nations to win this summer’s finals. According to the latest online sports betting markets from Betano, France and England are joint favorites to be crowned European champions this year, priced at 3.50.

Ousmane Dembélé (France)

Dembélé may not have hit the ground running in a PSG jersey so far, but he’s still a powerful figure of the French national team. With 43 caps and five goals to his name since 2016, Dembélé is a very effective foil for the likes of Mbappé.

Dembélé got on the scoresheet twice in PSG’s recent 4-1 away thumping of Lorient to all but seal the Ligue 1 title. He linked up supremely well with Mbappé which will be music to the ears of French national team coach, Didier Deschamps.

Gianluigi Donnarumma (Italy)

Donnarumma has been an integral part of PSG’s spine in the last couple of seasons. He was also part of Italy’s EURO 2020-winning side. In fact, he was named Player of the Tournament for his efforts.

At the last European Championships, Donnarumma conceded just four goals in seven games, including two decisive penalty saves in their shoot-out win over England in the final. Donnarumma is one of the most imposing goalkeepers in Europe and a huge ace up the Italians’ sleeve.

Vitinha (Portugal)

Portuguese midfield ace Vitinha represented Portugal at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and he’s almost certain to be on the plane to Germany. He’s become a very reliable attack-minded midfielder for PSG, chipping in with seven goals in Ligue 1 this season.

What’s great about Vitinha is his general fitness and availability. He’s a durable player which managers crave for major tournaments like the Euros. The fact some PSG fans are talking about Vitinha on the same level as former icon Marco Verratti, is a testament to his progress in 2023/24.

Milan Škriniar (Slovakia)

Škriniar has been a mainstay of the Slovakian national team since making his debut against Georgia in May 2016. The retirement of Marek Hamsik meant that Škriniar was promoted to skipper his country in June 2022. With 66 caps to his name, Škriniar will be the bedrock of Slovakia’s chances of qualifying out of their competitive group involving Belgium, Ukraine and Romania.

Škriniar may not have played as many first team games for PSG as he’d have liked this season since joining from Inter. However, even if PSG don’t see him as part of their long-term future, Škriniar will want to play well for his country and potentially put himself back in the shop window for another summer transfer.
